Purchased as a growing business in April 1977, Queen Bee Air Specialties, Inc. is entering its 24th season serving the needs of growers in Southeast Idaho. From the firm's base of operations at the Jefferson County airport in Rigby, Queen Bee's pilots apply fertilizer, seed, and crop protection products to wheat, barley, alfalfa, and potato fields. The company operates AT-802, AT-502, and AT-402 aircraft, all of which are powered by dependable Pratt & Whitney turboprop engines.

The growing season in Southeast Idaho is later than in most areas of the country, beginning in late April and ending in early October, and the majority of flying is done from late May to early September. During this period the company will treat 100,000 acres and apply 1.5 million pounds of dry fertilizer.

Queen Bee's agricultural operation is managed by Chip Kemper and the summer of 2002 will be his 25th summer in the seat of an ag plane. Chip's aerial application experience ranges from the intermountain Western US to Australia.

We at Queen Bee cordially invite you to stop in and visit us. Come early if you want to see the yellow machines at work; they often have the first 1000 acres done by 8:00 AM.
